Hey! I’m Sam.

Thanks for stopping by. I recently graduated a semester early with honors from the University of Mary Washington with a B.A. in Communication and Digital Studies. I’ve been eagerly applying what I learned about the user-centered design process. You’ll see some of my experimentation in my portfolio, which I designed, built, and frequently update.

Website, product, and service design; custom graphics; photography; and social media account management are the focus of my creative energies these days. I’m obsessed with exploring how to design usable, engaging user experiences that support clear objectives. My latest exploration is a native app that helps students with disabilities more easily and safely navigate their college campuses. My creative expression takes on other forms as well. I love dabbling in textile and clay designs, and you’ll frequently find me with a guitar in hand or at a piano singing my favorite covers or an occasional original.

Despite my creative side, my feet are planted firmly on the ground. I’m devoted to my career have been working since my sophomore year of high school. This summer, I worked for ten weeks as a UX designer and researcher in Capital One’s Design Internship Program, where I provided UX design support for marketing initiatives and tests and conducted user research to help improve internal design processes. At the end of the internship, I was offered a full time position in their Design Deveolpment Program that will begin July 2022.

Currently, I’m working as a web designer for the digital design firm Rambletype, where I’ve designed 20+ websites to date. I also design and maintain the Chronic & Iconic Instagram account that I co-created for disabled and chronically ill college students.

I’m a self-motivated, collaborative, and productive with strong communication and creative problem-solving skills. My peers, instructors, and employers have praised me for my maturity, resourcefulness, and dedication.

I’m looking forward to learning more about how we can work together. Feel free to reach out!
